How it works
A lunar calendar
Each month starts with the new crescent and has 29 or 30 days, so the Hijri year is about 11 days shorter than the solar year.
Moon sighting
Countries begin months by local sighting, global sighting or calculation, so dates may differ by a day. Adjust in settings to match your country.
Umm al-Qura
Calculations use the official Umm al-Qura calendar of Saudi Arabia.
